Dermamelan treatment at our Harley Street skin clinic is used to remove and improve all forms of pigmentation, like melasma and dark spots.
The Dermamelan® Pigmentation Programme is a deep chemical peel designed t o specifically target stubborn pigmentation, uneven skin tone, and discoloration at its source. Penetrating beyond the surface, it works to regulate melanin production, effectively fading dark spots, melasma, and sun damage.
By promoting deep exfoliation and skin renewal, this intensive treatment delivers transformative, long-lasting results revealing a brighter, clearer, and more even complexion. Includes aftercare pack.
Hyperpigmentation occurs when too much melanin is produced in a localised area resulting in dark spots and irregular skin colouration. There are several potential factors which cause hyperpigmentation including sun exposure, ageing, hormonal changes, medication and genetic tendencies.
The Dermamelan pigmentation treatment consists of an in-clinic treatment mask followed by a long-term home care programme that effectively act on all phases of the hyperpigmentation process. By using an advanced and exclusive combination of 6 laboratory-formulated ingredients, we can help eliminate existing hyperpigmentation, prevent its reappearance and stop the formation of new dark spots.* This is achieved through an intensive corrective effect that regulates the overproduction of melanin to keep hyperpigmentation under control.

This treatment is designed to target pigmentation, melasma, sun damage, sun spots, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone. The Dermamelan Programme corrects existing pigmentation while preventing new pigmentation from forming, helping to restore a brighter, more even complexion.
This medical grade treatment combines an in clinic procedure with a carefully structured home care phase over four months. The process works by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase to regulate melanin production and renew the skin at a cellular level. It is suitable for all skin types and tones, including those affected by hormonal or sun induced pigmentation.
Patients can expect visible improvement within two to four weeks, with continued enhancement throughout the treatment programme.

After a period of 30 to 60 days, hyperpigmentation caused by the overproduction of melasma should fade and disappear. If you follow the homecare programme as advised, results should be long term.*
It’s important to avoid certain treatments during the therapy, such as peels and facials.
There may be some peeling, redness and irritation after the in-clinic treatment. This may last until the application (homecare programme) is reduced in the 2nd month.*
No, it may also be used on the body. It’s ideal for areas where hyperpigmentation often occurs such as hands, arms, décolletage and the back and shoulders.
We’ll recommend a number of products from Mesoestetic – a world-leading pharmaceutical laboratory specialising in dermatology and cosmetic medicine. These will include a hydra-milk cleanser, hydratonic, fast skin repair, hydra-vital factor k and moisturising sun protection SPF 50+. The products are to be used alongside the homecare programme and are available as a post-peel pack. Using the products will help to reduce irritation, peeling and chances of adverse reactions.
Products containing Vitamin C or retinols should be avoided throughout the treatment as they will over stimulate the skin.
Skin is particularly sensitised during the first month after the in-clinic treatment. That’s why we recommend using only the products contained in the post-peel pack with the maintenance cream.
After the first month when irritation reduces, we may recommend introducing products from the Mesoestetic W+ whitening range.
*Individual results may vary.

Following your Dermamelan treatment at L’Atelier Aesthetics in Harley Street, some redness, sensitivity and mild flaking is entirely normal and forms part of the skin renewal process. Downtime is typically three to seven days, during which the skin may feel tight and begin to peel. Skin flaking can continue for up to one month as the deeper renewal process takes place. Visible improvements in pigmentation, tone and clarity begin within two to four weeks, with continued enhancement throughout the four-month treatment programme.
Dermamelan is a medical grade depigmentation programme that combines an in-clinic treatment mask with a carefully structured home care phase. By inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase, it regulates melanin production and renews the skin at a cellular level, targeting existing pigmentation while preventing new dark spots from forming. The programme is suitable for all skin types and tones, including those affected by melasma, sun damage, and hormonal or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Your Dermamelan package includes pre-peel skin preparation, the in-clinic mask, post-peel products, follow-up consultations and an Obseve skin scan.
Dermamelan Pre-Treatment Guidance
The Dermamelan programme requires a two-week preparation period before your in-clinic treatment. This is an essential part of the process and helps to prime the skin for optimal results and a more comfortable recovery.
During the two-week preparation phase:
On the day of your in-clinic treatment:
What to Expect Immediately After Dermamelan
Dermamelan is an intensive treatment and the skin will go through a visible renewal process over the days and weeks following your in-clinic mask.
You may experience:
The peeling phase is a sign that the treatment is working. It is important not to pick or force the skin to shed during this period, as this can cause irritation or post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Dermamelan Post-Treatment Care
Dermamelan is a four-month programme and the home care phase is as important as the in-clinic treatment itself. Consistent use of the prescribed products and diligent sun protection are essential to achieving the best results and preventing pigmentation from returning.
In the immediate recovery period:
Throughout the full four-month programme:
Sun protection is the single most important factor in maintaining your Dermamelan results long-term. Without it, pigmentation is likely to return.
When Will I See Results from Dermamelan?
Dermamelan works progressively over several months, with improvements building throughout the programme.
The full extent of results becomes apparent once the skin has completed its renewal process and the pigmentation has had time to fade and rebalance.
Who Should Not Have Dermamelan?
Dermamelan may not be suitable if you have:
A full skin consultation, including an Obseve skin scan, will be carried out prior to treatment to confirm suitability and ensure the programme is tailored to your skin type, tone and pigmentation concerns.
