Removing varicose veins – what to expect

More and more of us are becoming self-conscious about varicose veins. At L’Atelier Aesthetics, we completely understand why you would want to them removed but may be too nervous to seek treatment. Maybe you think it will involve painful surgery or a long recovery time, putting you out of work? Or maybe the treatment would leave terrible scarring.

We’re very happy to say that our varicose vein treatment is not only innovative, but minimally-invasive. From our combined experience, we’ve found that radio frequency ablation is the most effective varicose vein treatment available today. This treatment delivers results which are, in our opinion, as good as surgery. But with much less downtime and discomfort. This means you can get back to your life much quicker without the worry of taking time off work.

Once completing a full consultation, in which we discuss all of your options with you, the actual treatment will be carried out at The Princess Grace Hospital in Marylebone, a private hospital which is hugely respected and renowned for its excellent service. The procedure will be completed under local anaesthetic. However, if you are particularly nervous for the procedure, it can be completed under sedation. During your consultation, we encourage all our clients to ask all the questions you have and to relay over any worries or apprehensions. At L’Atelier Aesthetics, we take great pride in our level of attentiveness to our clients. We will always listen to your concerns and try to remedy them with reassuring actions.

1. What does the treatment involve?

The varicose vein treatment at L’Atelier Aesthetics will involve radio-frequency energy. This is used to provide an evenly spread heat to the affected area. This heat will contract collagen in the walls of the vein, which causes them to seal and collapse. The blood which was struggling to pass through the varicose vein is then redirected to the surrounding healthy veins.

2. Does the treatment take long?

Absolutely not. A huge benefit of our varicose vein treatment in Marylebone is the short time it takes, which is about 45 minutes for each leg (if both legs are receiving treatment). If both legs are receiving treatment, then they would be treated separately to ensure minimum discomfort and a recovery period.

3. Is there any aftercare for this treatment?

There is an easy regime of aftercare required post-treatment. After the varicose veins have been treated, then you are required to wear compression stockings for 2 weeks after your procedure. This step is incredibly important as it’s the aftercare which allows your body to receive the full benefits of the treatment.

4. Is varicose veins treatment in Maryleborn safe?

The varicose vein treatment at L’Atelier Aesthetics has proven to be incredibly safe and a great alternative to surgery. During your consultation, you will hear about the possible risks of the treatment, but these are small and few.

5. When can I get back to my every day?

Again, a big bonus of our varicose veins treatment in Marylebone is the lack of downtime compared to regular surgery. There is less pain and bruising and no hospital stay. Most people are back to normal 48 hours after their treatment.

6. Can my treatment be covered by my private medical insurance?

If your varicose veins are symptomatic (affecting your everyday life with swelling, pain, heaviness and itching) then it is possible that the treatment could be covered. Please raise this during your consultation and we will certainly look into it for you.
