Is Morpheus8 Still Worth It in 2026? What’s Changed

By Dr Duncan Brennand, Lead Aesthetic Doctor at L’Atelier Aesthetics, 101 Harley Street

Morpheus8 has been the best-known radiofrequency microneedling device in the UK for several years, and the market has moved around it. New competing devices have launched, the way we use Morpheus8 has been refined, and the treatment we deliver in 2026 is noticeably better than the one we were doing in 2022. The question is whether it is still worth choosing over newer options. The honest answer is yes, for the right patient.

Is Morpheus8 still worth it in 2026?

For patients with texture concerns, acne scarring or early to moderate laxity along the lower face, Morpheus8 is still worth it in 2026. Its depth reach, the design of the needles that protects the skin surface, and the volume of published data behind it keep it ahead of most competing devices for the kind of work we do. For patients wanting tightening with no downtime at all, Sofwave may be the better answer.

What has changed with Morpheus8 since 2022

Three things have moved in the last three years. First, the tip options have expanded, which means we can now tailor the treatment much more precisely to different areas and concerns on the same device. Second, the way we use it has changed. We now treat at different depths in the same session, going deeper along the jawline for tightening and shallower across the cheeks for texture, which produces a more complete result. Third, the competition has matured. Competing devices have improved, and the gap has narrowed, though Morpheus8 still leads for the deeper work.

What has not changed is the fundamental way it works. Heat is delivered precisely into the skin through fine needles, triggering a firming and collagen-building response over the following three months. The refinement is in how we apply that.

Who is Morpheus8 for in 2026?

Morpheus8 suits patients in their mid-thirties to mid-fifties with a mix of texture and laxity concerns. Typical presentations include early jowling, softening along the jawline, acne scarring, crepey texture and enlarged pores. It is generally safe across all skin tones because the coated needles protect the skin surface from heat, though settings are adjusted for each individual.

Morpheus8 is not appropriate during pregnancy, with active cystic acne, with a pacemaker or implanted electronic device, within six months of finishing isotretinoin, or with active skin infection in the area being treated. It is also not a volume treatment. If the main concern is hollowing rather than texture or laxity, we will plan a different approach.

What has actually improved in our approach

Treating different depths in one session

Rather than treating the whole face at a single depth, we now commonly go deeper along the jawline and neck for tightening and shallower across the cheeks and upper lip for texture and fine lines. That produces a more complete result in a single visit.

Better preparation and aftercare

Refinements to the numbing process, post-treatment skincare and sun protection advice mean redness settles faster and patients are typically comfortable back in makeup on day two rather than day three. Small gains that make the experience noticeably more manageable.

Combination plans that work

Morpheus8 paired with Julaine has become our default plan for patients with both texture and a general loss of skin firmness. Morpheus8 paired with Profhilo works well for patients who also have dull or dry skin. We start Morpheus8, add the injectable at week four or six, and let both build their effect over three months.

How long do results last?

Most patients notice a visible improvement by the second session. The full result shows at around three months after the final session as the new collagen matures. Results typically last 12 to 18 months, with a single maintenance session annually keeping the benefit going. Patients who also follow a collagen-stimulating injectable plan often stretch results to 18 to 24 months.

Dr Brennand’s take

“My answer in 2026 is that Morpheus8 is still the device I reach for first when texture, scarring or lower-face laxity are part of the picture. The refinement in how we use it over the last three years has made it a noticeably better treatment than it was at launch. For patients wanting a tightening-only result with no downtime, I will suggest Sofwave instead. Both are worth it. The choice depends on the skin and the concern.”

At the clinic, Morpheus8 treatments are delivered by our team, Emma, Kate and Bronte, under Dr Brennand’s clinical lead. Dr Brennand assesses the skin at consultation, sets the depths, energy levels and treatment pattern, and the team delivers the session.

To Conclude

Morpheus8 is still one of the best treatments we offer for skin texture, acne scarring and lower-face laxity, and the way we use it has improved meaningfully since it first launched. For patients whose main concern is tightening without any recovery time, Sofwave is the better fit. For most patients with a combination of texture and laxity concerns, Morpheus8 remains the stronger tool, especially when paired with a collagen-stimulating injectable as part of a longer plan. Dr Brennand will work through the right approach for your skin at consultation. Our clinic is at 101 Harley Street, London W1G 6AH, a short walk from Bond Street and Oxford Circus. Frequently Asked Questions around Morpheus8

Is Morpheus8 still worth it at L'Atelier Aesthetics in 2026?

Yes. Morpheus8 remains our first-choice radiofrequency microneedling device for patients with texture concerns, acne scarring or early to moderate lower-face laxity. The way we use it has been refined significantly over the last three years, making it a stronger and more comfortable treatment than when it launched.

What is the downtime for Morpheus8 at L'Atelier Aesthetics?

Downtime is 24 to 48 hours of redness. A faint grid pattern may be visible where the needles contacted the skin. Most patients are comfortable back in light makeup the next day.

How many Morpheus8 sessions do I need at L'Atelier Aesthetics?

Most patients need three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Deeper scarring or more advanced laxity occasionally needs a fourth. Dr Brennand confirms the number at consultation.

Is Morpheus8 painful at L'Atelier Aesthetics?

Most patients describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. A numbing cream is applied for 30 to 45 minutes before treatment. The deeper work along the jawline is the most intense part, and some warmth persists for a few hours afterwards.

Is Morpheus8 safe on darker skin at L'Atelier Aesthetics?

Yes. The coated needles protect the skin surface from heat, which makes Morpheus8 safe across all skin tones. Settings are adjusted for each patient’s skin type and Dr Brennand confirms suitability at consultation.

How much does Morpheus8 cost at L'Atelier Aesthetics?

Morpheus8 is priced per session and per course. A three-session course on a single area is usually the best value. Pricing is discussed openly at consultation.

Sofwave stimulates collagen to lift and tighten, but this is just one part of the overall plan. Depending on the skin, we may pair it with treatments that support tissue repair, improve texture, boost hydration or refine facial structure. Different treatments do different jobs, which is why combination plans often give the best outcome.
