How Does Microneedling work?

Our skin sheds over 30,000 dead cells a minute and after every 28 days, we have a completely new set of skin cells. With all those changes, it is harder to control without the correct treatment and products, so it’s beneficial to invest in the long-term health of our skin. One of these treatments is Microneedling and we uncover the beauty behind it.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a skin treatment with numerous advantages that causes minute damage to the surface of the skin. It uses a handheld pen apparatus, which is equipped with needles that vibrate to create tiny, punctures in the epidermis. These punctures are little wounds that break the surface and force the skin into a controlled internal healing process. The process not only encourages the formation of new surface skin cells, but the collagen that is produced during healing also strengthens the lower level of the dermis.

What does it treat?

The skin works to heal itself internally, which begins the production of new collagen and fresh skin cells to replace those that are previously lost or damaged. This results in safely rejuvenated skin suitable for treating mild acne scarring, fine lines, volume loss or pigmentation, which helps your skin, glow.

How the ageing process affects the skin

Subcutaneous, or below, the skin, changes happen during the ageing process that causes its thinning, degradation, and loss of volume. Part of the reason you lose facial volume and structure in soft tissue is due to the loss of the fart in areas like the cheeks, temples, and under eyes or tear troughs. The fat we have which is stored in our upper face tends to shrink and sag, and our lower face tends to sag around the chin and jowls. Also, after our 20s we stop producing collagen and by our 30s we begin losing our remaining stores at a steady rate. Collagen is essential to skin elasticity and quality, so its depletion leads to loss of volume and thinning.

How microneedling improves ageing skin

Microneedling in Mayfair improves ageing skin through the stimulation of the fresh production of collagen. Microneedling uses tiny needles to pierce the skin, creating needle columns beneath the superficial surface. These micro-wounds prompt the skin into healing mode, producing fresh skin cells and collagen in order to close the columns and heal the tiny punctures. In doing so, it produces collagen whose production ceased years ago. It improves blood flow to the treated area, ushers in a healthy skin glow, and transforms it from the inside out.
