L’Atelier Aesthetics

Dissolving Your Lip Fillers

Woman touching her new lip fillers

Lip fillers are one of the most popular facial aesthetic treatments du jour, but that doesn’t mean to say that things always go to plan and people always get results they love. There are lots of reasons things go wrong, which we have detailed in another blog post here, but rest assured that many cases can be fixed.

We’re proud to say that our clients love our treatments here at L’Atelier Aesthetics skin clinic, Harley Street, and our experts have created countless gorgeous smiles throughout the years. But, we’ve also seen clients come to us when another clinic has left them with lip filler results they weren’t expecting, or plain disliked. We’ll happily step in whatever the case, and help where we can.

In this post, we’ll talk through the process of dissolving your lip fillers, which is a procedure that can be carried out on those who have had hyaluronic acid lip injections.

Step 1: consultation

As with any of our facial aesthetic treatments, it pays to have a consultation ahead of treatment. Not only can you have the cost of the consultation reimbursed if you choose to have treatment – effectively making it FREE – but you’ll be able to call on our knowledge and expertise, and determine which treatments will give you results you’ll be proud of.

We also use our consultations as an opportunity to get to know our clients and for you to get comfortable asking questions – especially as we’re aware that many cosmetic procedures can have ‘myths and legends’ attached, and it can be hard to separate fact from fiction in the media.

Step 2: treatment

As you’ve no doubt heard, we like to create results that give you a boost, while still looking natural. Far from fake or over-filled lips, we’ll always aim to give you something that harmonises with your other features. However, some clinics sadly don’t get this right, and lips that appear too large for the face are one of the common reasons clients book with us for lip filler dissolving. We often say that lip fillers are a delicate process, where even the smallest amount can affect your results. When you book in at our skin clinic on Harley Street, we’ll apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable, then use targeted injections to help treat the areas of concern. Many see results within 3 days of treatment, with any adverse affects typically passing within a mere 48 hours. The appointment itself usually takes around half an hour.

Step 3: results

Good things come to those who wait, and this has never been truer than with dissolving fillers. The treatment helps break down the hyaluronic acid so it can be reabsorbed by the body, but this process means you won’t see results immediately following your treatment.

With this treatment, it’s important to remember that each individual client will respond differently, and each person comes to us with a different requirement, with a different reason behind treatment. So, managing expectations is really key when pursuing dissolving your lip fillers.

If you’re unsure about any aspect of your treatment or results, it’s worth remembering that lip injections are non-permanent, and with time, your lips will return to normal. However, in some people, this can mean waiting up to 18 months – so please get in touch if you are concerned and need our help!
