Is dissolving lip fillers safe?

Is dissolving lip fillers safe?

Lip fillers were the top treatment for many women and men in 2018. They continued to be an incredibly popular treatment, and many people opted to enhance their pout or add subtle fullness. One of the benefits of dermal fillers is that they’re quite a ‘flexible’ treatment. What we mean by this is that your results can be built up over time to achieve your desired appearance, but they can also be dissolved should you decide you wouldn’t like them anymore. So, are dissolving lip fillers safe, and how does it work?

How to dissolve lip fillers

Your body naturally dissolves the dermal filler for you over time using a substance called hyaluronidase. This is a naturally occurring material in your body that gradually breaks down the hyaluronic acid in your filler, causing your results to gradually diminish over a period of 6 – 18 months. However, you can also dissolve them with a second injectable treatment that uses this same protein, hyaluronidase. So, how long does it take for lip filler to dissolve? This dissolving lip filler treatment speeds up your body’s natural dissolving of the filler so that your results could be greatly diminished after 3-4 days, or even in some cases just one day. Because this treatment is very similar to dermal fillers, a similar treatment procedure is carried out: full assessment, comprehension, and permission from the client before we apply numbing cream and begin targeted injections.

Why would I consider dissolving my lip filler?

Apart from simply ‘undoing’ and dissolving fillers, there actually is another reason you might consider this treatment. For those who have been receiving fillers for a few years and have received multiple treatments, it’s common to want to ‘start from scratch’ after some time. Dissolving lip fillers in London to gradually build them back up to different results is very common, especially in those who enjoyed the glamorous fullness of their treated lips but now would prefer a more naturally refreshed and full lip. Because our own preferences change quite a bit, so can our treatment approach. Dissolving your lip fillers and then gradually building them up again from this blank canvas allows us to take an entirely new approach, if you wish it, and begin a journey to different results than previously obtained. Olivia Atwood from Love Island, for example, has openly talked about having her lip fillers dissolved so that she may start her treatment journey from a blank canvas to achieve more natural results.

Is dissolving lip fillers safe?

Because this treatment uses a natural bodily compound, this treatment is very safe for use with your full comprehension and permission. There is a small risk with dissolving lip fillers, however, you are allergic to hyaluronidase. This may see your lips returning to smaller than they were pre-treatment because the substance can continue to break down the natural hyaluronic acid present in the area. This may mean you’d prefer to wait for your filler to dissolve naturally or accept this risk and simply have a little more put in post-dissolving to combat any unexpected changes.
